Gary Reef
Choosing to self educate, Reef decided at an early age to forgo formal training, opting instead to follow his own creative instincts, developing his style through experimentation and prolific output.
His materials vary from acrylic, spray paint, and asphalt, to rusty metal and other discarded materials. Reef chooses to work on many artworks simultaneously, cross pollinating each with ideas and images pulled from the random chaos of his surroundings. The process often starts as a painting but Reef is not bound to a specific genre or style, in doing this he allows an image to transform itself without limits and boundaries.
His experimental approach has culminated in rich deep surfaces full of history and spontaneity.
He has attracted a large international mixed media following both fascinated with his techniques and his creative diversity.
